OnePlus One can now receive Cyanogen OS 12.1 OTA update

After the Oxygen OS 2.0.1 update for OnePlus 2 was released, the OnePlue One is also getting an update to Cyanogen OS 12.1. This particular version already includes Android 5.1.1 Lollipop so OnePlus One owners no longer have to complain that their units are becoming outdated. We actually don’t remember when was the last update for the first-gen OnePlus smartphone since the version was released (was there any?) but we’re glad the Cyanogen OS 12.1 is here.

Rollout is happening slowly but surely among OnePlus One owners so if you have one, just be patient before you receive an OTA notification. If you can’t wait, you can always download the full update from HERE. It’s known as build YOG4PAS1N0 and it would need about free 645MB of your precious phone storage. But if you have the latest Android 5.0, you may download the new OTA at only 304MB. It might take some 20 minutes to download and finish installation of the over-the-air (OTA) software update.

We don’t have a list of the improvements or a copy of the changelog but we heard the home page has now been set to Bing as default. It’s not a big surprise since Microsoft and Cyanogen have already “solidified” their strategic partnership for Android devices and this could be part of the plan.

The Home button in Chrome is also believed to have been activated. And us usual, the standard security fixes can be expected especially since we learned the truth about Stagefright vulnerabilities on Android devices.
