We’ve seen the preview of the Office Android for Phone and we’ve been using the Office for Android Tablet since November last year. And finally, the phone version is here. Microsoft has officially released the Word, PowerPoint, and Excel apps for Android phone on the Google Play Store.
All three apps provide a complete Microsoft Office experience we’re all familiar with. The apps have been optimized for any Android phone which is a bit different from the Android tablet version. The software giant first announced the preview back in May and more than 1,900 users previewed the apps on Android smartphones in 83 countries all over the world. The series of tests yielded feedback and comments on the apps. Microsoft took notes and tried to incorporate them into the apps to allow easier navigation, usability, and convenience.
Let’s take a look at these apps:
The Office for Android phone now supports cloud storage like Box and Google Drive. Word count and proofing support have been added as well to ensure that the document you are working on is ready for presentation even when you’re always on-the-go. You can create a new document or edit your files without having to worry about losing your original formatting. Not all features are included but you can unlock them if you subscribe to Office 365.
With this app optimized for mobile, you are free to analyze and sort your data. Create a new spreadsheet and be productive working on numbers or whatever data. You can also access .xls files in the cloud from this app.
The PowerPoint app for Android phone is made especially for those who are always mobile. It offers an intuitive experience on a smaller screen so you can design new presentations or edit a current .PPT file. This is best for quick edits but you can still make a new one from scratch and wow your colleagues. As with the Word and Excel apps, you won’t lose any formatting with the PowerPoint app.
